Mr. Cicotte's practice currently integrates multiple disciplines of intellectual property law including patent procurement, analysis and enforcement. His fields of expertise include electrical, computer and mechanical engineering. Colin conducts patent and trademark searches, prepares patent applications and renders opinions on invention patentability and trademark registrability. Additionally, he handles patent infringement and trade secret litigation.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Cicotte worked for a small automotive consulting firm specializing in the research and development of cost-reducing technology. There he worked as general counsel responsible for internal directional strategies, licensing technologies, litigation and acting as an informational liaison between the consulting firm and outside counsel. Before that, he spent two years as an intern for Justice Robert Young at the Michigan Supreme Court.
Mr. Cicotte received degrees in Economics and History from the University of Michigan. He also received a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University where he was Note Editor with the Journal of Law and Society. He is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, Michigan Intellectual Property Association, and is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan.
