Steven L. Permut

Mr. Permut's expertise includes patents for a wide range of mechanical, electronic and computer related technologies, and trademarks for commercial establishments.

Mr. Permut's professional experience includes a position on Ford Motor Company's Patent Staff, and a position as Associate Patent Counsel for Masco Corporation where he counseled in trademark and international patent law.

Mr. Permut received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Illinois. He earned his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, where he was a staff writer on The DePaul Law Review.

Mr. Permut's publications include "Failed Trademarks That Enhance The English Language," "Preparing For The Patent Attorney, A Concise Guide For An Inventor," and "A United States Patent, What Is It? What You Can Do With It."

Mr. Permut is admitted to the bars of Michigan and Illinois, and is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He has served as Chairperson of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He also served a term as a Professor at Wayne State University School of Law where he taught Patent Law and at Ave Maria School of Law where he taught Trademark and Unfair Competition Law.
